In Loving Memory of Steve – A Cherished Member of Our Mill Markets Family

June 14 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our dear friend and regular customer, Steve.
Steve was more than just a collector—he was a kind soul, a true gentleman, and a beloved part of the Amazing Mill Markets Geelong community. He had a passion for tins and could often be found exploring the stalls with a quiet smile and a keen eye for special finds.
This photo was taken during his last visit with us. Steve had spotted a rare Riverhead Gold tobacco tin behind the counter and asked if he could buy it. Instead of accepting payment, Mark Ward (owner of the Mill Markets) gifted it to him. Steve was visibly touched and shared that it was his birthday that Monday.
The following day, Steve returned, still beaming with gratitude. To make the moment even more special, we took him to the café for coffee and cake. It was a simple gesture—but for Steve, it meant the world.
Steve had worked for many years at Ford until the factory closed, then moved into a traffic control role before stepping away to care full-time for his beloved parents. After losing both his mum and dad in close succession, Steve lived alone and received support through the NDIS.
That tin was his only birthday wish—and it was granted. We’re grateful to have played a small part in making that day memorable for him.
Steve, you brought quiet joy and warmth to all who knew you here. Your gentle spirit and love for collecting will never be forgotten. You will be deeply missed by all of us at the Amazing Mill Markets.
Rest in peace, dear Steve.
