Introducing Dandelion Wood, Barley Corn Vintage Finds and Rustic Boutique PART TWO

July 24 2014

In part two of this series of blog posts, we continue our introduction to three very popular Mill Markets’ stalls and speak to Monique of Dandelion Wood and Denise of Barley Corn Vintage Finds. This is what they had to say about their business:

From where do you draw your inspiration?

Monique: I lived in the UK for 10 years and I was inspired by the Scandinavian style of décor so popular at that time in England.

Denise: I also lived in the UK for most of my life and my inspiration was the pretty painted cottages and the wonderful pieces of antique furniture and vintage collectables.

What has been your favourite piece and why?

Monique: Oh definitely the beautiful armoire painted using Miss Mustard Seed Artissimo. I now use it has a statement piece in the space at Daylesford.

Denise: I think my favourite was a French Provincial Sideboard painted using Websters and Antique White. The piece had beautiful curlicue mouldings and had wonderful elegant lines.

What is your favourite material to work with?

Both Monique and Denise love the feel and of an old piece of furniture. It is very satisfying to bring new life to old pre loved furniture with paint and wax.

If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?

Denise: we have just purchased a professional stencil cutting machine so my husband and I will be expanding into that area. Providing custom made stencils for the painting fraternity.

Monique: I am very busy at the moment promoting Websters Down Under, looking after three children and two chooks. So I might acquire another couple of chickens!
